Rohit grew up in Toronto and was drawn to the world of Bollywood from a young age. He found himself fascinated by the story lines and performances and would soon grow an interest in the world of song and dance. He was most influenced by the style and expressions of Govinda.
After a move to Brampton, Rohit became more involved in sports. He would go on to be recognized for his achievements in various sports including Soccer, Volleyball, Badminton and Wrestling.
In his later years of High School Rohit found himself once again drawn to the world of dance, but this time through a traditional Punjabi folk dance called Bhangra. This new passion and art form was self taught as he would watch videos of successful teams and mimic their movements.
University is where dance soon became a major part of Rohit. At York University Rohit found himself joining the school South Asian dance team. Rohit would continue to become a key member and leader of this University team. This team would soon open doors to him becoming an integral part and leader of a Bhangra team. It also exposed him to various other forms of dance which soon began to intrigue him. After spending many years competing in the Bhangra circuit as well as teaching the art for Bhangra itself, Rohit turned to competing in the Bollywood circuit. Although short lived, Rohit saw much praise in the time spent there.
During this time Rohit received an abundant amount of opportunities. He was a member of Broken Dance during there huge run on the National TV Show (Canada’s Got Talent) where they found themselves reaching all the way to the Finals. He was an assistant choreographer to renowned SYTYCD Judge & Choreographer Trey Armstrong, as well as a featured dancer for ‘Sheran Di Kaum’ a song by Ludacris, RDB & Akshay Kumar directed by Lil-X. He also had the opportunity to dance and choreograph in the opening ceremonies for the 2015 Pan-Am games held in Toronto. Rohit would also become a finalist in another National TV Show titled Bollywood Star where his talent for acting and personality became very well known. Rohit can be seen in films such as; Love Guru, Breakaway, Thank You, Dr. Cabbie and even in a commercial for State Farm Insurance.
Since, Rohit has established himself as one of Toronto’s top Bhangra Dancer/Choreographer and continues to make leaps in styles such as Bollywood, Hip-Hop, Reggae and Contemporary.
